My experience was that MBOX 2 is still non operational with 10.11.1. It lights up but is not recognized. My.personal opinion. is that Avid will have to provide an updated driver to make it work with the security changes Apple implemented in El Capitan.
Here for the gear
- Nov 12, 2015 Noisy audio input with latest USB drivers (e.g. Eleven Rack, Fast Track C400 & C600, MBox Mini, MBox) Sibelius. OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) is not supported at this time. Known Issues: Crashing when closing a score. Support for OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) was added with EuControl 3.3.2 and S6 v2.1. OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) is not supported.
- Arturia brings El Capitan compatibility to their product line with the latest updates. You can update your Arturia software via the Arturia Software Center. View Arturia’s full statement here. Audient is happy to announce that both its iD14 and iD22 interfaces are supported on El Capitan with the latest drivers!
- The operating system you're using is more important. Check the MBox mini driver update on Avid to see if it's supported or not. If it isn't, I wouldn't even try. I'm sure it would work fine on Yosemite, but it's iffy on El Capitan. And as for Windows, I have literally no idea.
Hi, I foolishly downloaded El Capitan OS and now the Mbox Mini is not recognized by PT. I am running OS 10.11.1 and Pro Tools 12.2.1.
Avid told me last month that 'The Mbox Mini is currently not qualified with El Capitan OS . . . As far as a release date goes I do not have anything, I just know that it is something in we are working on.'
Does anyone have an idea as to a release date for the driver?
Or should I throw the Mbox away and buy a different, compatible interface?
Thanks for any info

If you were considering upgrading you Mac OS X to El Capitan 10.11 I would deeply reconsider that if you are using an Mbox 2 related devices.
Over the last couple of days I've installed OS X El Capitan 10.11 GM Candidate and any updates that were available up to September 23, 2015 on a spare hard drive as I'm apart of the public beta program for El Capitan, and the results are not good if you plan on using your Mbox 2 or related drivers.
My tests were conducted with 10.11 GM Candidate and then updated to 10.11.1 Public Beta 1.
10.3.3 Drivers - Installed fine, all green lights on Mbox 2 device are bright green as if everything is working fine, Both directly connected to USB port and via Hub. The preference pane for the Mbox 2 says it's not connected, and under sound (System Preference) it doesn't show up at all. So there is some sort of connection but it does not register at all and it basically useless at the moment, but maybe Avid can do some investigating and work with Apple to find a resolution to the problem.
10.3.9 Drivers - Installs fine, lights are all dim with really no signs of life. Both directly connected to USB port and via Hub, The preference pane for the Mbox 2 says it's not connected, and under sound (System Preference) it doesn't show up at all. So just like Yosemite this driver is DOA.
So these are the results of testing both drivers, as it stands El Capitan 10.11 is your Mbox 2 Killer, unless someone finds a possible solution.
